Visiting Christ Church in person or online:

Christ Church offers in-person and online school visits. Please contact us for more information about arranging an in-person visit to Christ Church. Days can be as long or as short as needed.

“We have visited Christ Church annually for more than ten years and every year it is an outstanding experience. The church team are so welcoming. They run a series of excellent table-based discussions and a group session followed by a Q&A panel. The table-based discussions link amazingly well with the AQA RS syllabus and offer our pupils a wealth of knowledge. A real highlight of the group session is the Bible Rollercoaster, which puts the Bible stories learnt in school into context in a really engaging way. We hope to continue visiting as often as we can.”

Becky Roadnight, RS Teacher

In-person school visits

For an in-person school visit, we would discuss your needs before the visit. We tend to welcome the young people and staff with refreshments, then give a short explanation of the church building and staff. We might show a video of a year in the life of the church to give an overview of the range of activities we are involved in. We often use The Lifesaving Station video below to encourage young people to think more about the purpose of a church.

We often rotate the young people round a series of tables, with young people spending 8-10 minutes on each, with church staff and volunteers looking at areas like:

  • Mission

  • Prayer

  • Worship

  • Sacraments and celebrations

  • Community

  • Serving as worship

These tables can be changed to best serve your syllabus needs.

After a break, we will then generally have a question panel where young people can ask a group of Christians questions about their belief and practice.

‘We have visited Christ Church for the past 16 years and we always leave feeling knowledgeable about what it is like being a Christian. Christ Church puts on a well-staffed programme which include group work in a ‘carousel’ which enables everyone to ask questions. The highlight of the visit is the ‘Grill-a-Christian’, where students can get their questions answered by a panel.’

Online school visits

For an online school visit, we encourage young people to interact with the three video resources below. We can also offer an online question panel, where young people ask Christians questions about God, Jesus, belief, teachings and Christian practices.

The Bible Overview Roller Coaster

A journey through the Bible from start to finish, from Eden to Eternity, in under 10 minutes, using a six-metre long roller coaster of the highs and lows of the Old and New Testament, including key terms, illustrations and a couple of mobile phone adverts!

The Lifesaving Station by Theodore Wedel

A four-minute story of a lifesaving station which becomes a yacht club which begs the question - should a church be more like a lifesaving station or a yacht club? Narrated by Philip Glassborow.

An interactive exploration of Christ Church

This interactive exploration lasts about 20 minutes, and looks at the people, building, services, community, worship, prayer, mission, serving and sacraments. Young people can select different options through this resource, choosing their own path to explore the church and Christian belief and practices.
